The Importance of Social Networking to Search Engines

Article marketing is now the de facto method for improving page rank with the search engines.  Need verification?  Look at the number of internet marketing tools for sale.  To try to stay ahead of your competition you really must to investigate using social bookmarking to your optimization plan.

Social bookmarking is when someone Tweets, Google Bookmarks or equivalent your article.  The owner of the web 2.0 account is voting with their mouse that your story is worth looking at.  They are informing their social cohorts that they read the story.  You can’t get the search engines to say so but if hundreds of individuals socially bookmark your story – then they will like your post too!

You can see how Bing relies on social bookmarking.  Instead of just relying on links to see if your site is significant, the voting is humanized.  Most web 2.0 site modifies their rules as frequently as daily to make it as difficult as they can to automate submissions.   The more difficult to computerize – the more likely that a live body did the voting.  And live bodies voting are what Googles are looking for.

To take advantage of the new movement you need to make sure you beg your visiters to StumbleUpon your article.  Make it as painless as technically possible for your readers to submit your site to StumbleUon or Twitter.  Insert the add-on in your WordPress site or on your blog site.  And make sure you StumbleUpon your own stories.  If you write a good article you should tell your followers they should read it.
